Java Developer

EDC is actively seeking a proven leader and Java Developer. The Java Developer will also be responsible for gather requirements, documenting user stories, unit testing, and developing Java code that is secure, reliable, and performant. Responsibilities include:
  • Gather requirements and document module features and user stories
  • Program, configure, test, integrate and/or implement assigned requirements using JavaEE, JavaScript, AngularJS, JPA, RESTful Services, and Oracle SQL
  • Develop code and supporting artifacts in adherence with established CM standards
  • Update module features and user stories to include functional descriptions of pre-conditions, post-conditions, main logic flow, and exception conditions
  • Perform unit testing with coverage of 80% or better on all testable units
  • Update help screens, documentation, and definitions
  • Update database and model content to reflect required changes
  • Conduct peer review and assessment of required changes
  • Perform deployment of updated modules in Development and Test environments
  • Develop and execute unit test plans to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Support formal testing and resolve test defects.
  • Participate in project planning and project status communications.
  • The position requires the ability to work individually or in a team environment.
  • Prioritization of day-to-day activities and long-term project-oriented tasks is essential.
  • The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.
 Required Skills and Abilities:  
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
  • Candidate must be able to work 100% onsite in Norfolk, VA
  • Four (4) year degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing applications using Java technologies
  • Experience with systems and software engineering/development concepts and techniques
  • Experience developing with JavaEE, Javascript, AngularJS, JPS, REST, and Oracle SQL
  • Experience working with IDE such as JDeveloper, Eclipse, NetBeans, etc.
  • Experience developing with SQL, PL/SQL, JDBC, JPA, and Oracle DB 11g (not DBA level)
  • Experience with configuration management, unit testing, rand requirements gathering
Preferred Skills and Abilities:  
  • Current DoD Secret Clearance or higher
  • Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP) – in lieu of 4-year degree
  • Technical certifications in Java, Oracle SQL, JavaScript, or other related technology
Travel Requirement: Travel may be required.
 
Security Clearance Requirement:  No clearance is required. Candidates must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance to be considered for this position.
