Supporting DHS EOC in Washington, D.C.

EDC is seeking to hire a qualified Senior Network Engineer to support its efforts at the DHS EOC program located in Washington, DC.  As a Senior Network Engineer, you will become and important piece of our delivery team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides technical guidance for directing and monitoring information systems operations.
  • Provides support in the translation of business requirements into telecommunications (e.g., LAN, MAN, WAN, Voice and Video) requirements, designs and orders.
  • Provides in-depth engineering analysis of telecommunications alternatives for government agencies in support of their strategic modernization efforts and telecommunications enhancement design for medium and large-scale telecommunication infrastructures.
  • Provides interface support to telecommunications end users, telecommunications operations personnel, and telecommunications strategic program management.
  • Monitors and responds to hardware, software, and network problems. Provides the routine testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities (including power, software, communications machinery, lines, modems, and terminals).
  • Utilizes software and hardware tools and identifies and diagnoses complex problems and factors affecting network performance. Troubleshoots network systems when necessary and makes improvements to the network.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
  • 5-+ years of experience with a BS Degree in the field of Computer Science with at least 5 years equivalent work experience with certification.
  • Experience with Solar Winds, HP OpenView, Splunk and CiscoWorks 
  • Certified in CCNA, CCNP, Linux - RHCE, MCSE industry recognized IT certification or strong knowledge in Network & System will be an advantage.
  • In-depth knowledge of network technologies, such as VLAN, STP, LACP, MPLS, L2VPN, Routing protocols (RIP, EIGRP, BGP and OSPF), DNS, Proxy, etc
  • Proven capability to handle network hardware such as Cisco routers, Talari APN, Arista, Client, Avaya (Nortel) Ethernet switches & load Balancer, Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco-Meraki wireless devices, DNS/DHCP (DDI) and etc.
  • Experienced in Monitoring tools, and administration of Window, Unix/Linux Operating Systems.
    Candidate must possess strong technical, analytical, troubleshooting skills and recommend next appropriate actions.
  • Demonstrated Data Centre / Server Room build out experience (Power, Network, Cooling, etc.)
    Candidate must able to work in a fast-pace, changing environment where they need to work on numerous projects at once.
  • A team player with strong customer-oriented attitude, interpersonal skills and works well in a multicultural workplace.
  • Self-disciplined, self-starter, professional who can successfully bring projects to closure with minimum direction, guidance and oversight.
  • Excellent time management skills that support a balance of strategic and tactical activities.
  • Display the professional qualities expected in the IT group and adopt a disciplined approach to problem solving.
 
PREFERENCES:
  • Current or previous experience in DHS environments or current DHS clearance a plus.
